Welcoming Ukrainian Refugees - the Bristol situation and response

Since 24 February, more than 4.2 million individuals living in Ukraine have crossed international borders as refugees (as of 4 April).

In response to this crisis, more than 150,000 individuals in the UK have signed up to host refugees in their homes.

So far, over 200 applicants have been matched with Bristol hosts, and almost 300 individuals will be arriving in Bristol once their visa comes through (as of 6 April).

This number is expected to rise in the coming weeks, but the migration ‘waves’ are currently quite unpredictable.

For all those who are interested in a Bristol response to supporting Ukrainian refugees, Christian Action Bristol has created a new page with information regarding the general situation, matching, volunteering, the initiative of church-based Welcome Hubs across Bristol, and sources for support.

On the page you’ll find:

  • Information on local welcome hubs

  • Ways in which you can volunteer and get involved

  • Local and national resources

Please visit the new page and share it with others in your churches, congregations and communities.
