Talent Show

Idea

You will need to advertise this somehow before the actual event, maybe through your youth club, maybe through your faith spaces maybe by giving flyers to other people to hand out to their neighbours or in their schools. 

You may want to get people to sign up at the start of the show so that you can organize a timetable, and you may want to ask them what they are going to do so that you can make sure you have the appropriate equipment (e.g. microphones, backing tracks (Spotify/YouTube is good for this – look up the karaoke versions of songs), instruments, gym mats, etc.). 

Have a host for the event, someone who is funny and friendly (very important). 

Remember to make every young person who gets up feel like they did well and you appreciate them performing (some of them will be terrible… they don’t need to feel that!) 

You may also want to consider having a panel of local judges – this could be well known members of the community, such as teachers from the local school, or even some young people themselves. And a prize for the winner always makes it worth entering.
